I’m curious why it bothers you so much that this is a “white woman”? Are you racist? Does skin color qualify you to speak a language? Or is it a learned thing?

When I read this article, I’m angered at how racist and and insensitive it is. I am a speaker of Chinese, I’m “white” and I would feel totally discriminated against if people commented about my “white”ness being a problem for me while speaking (or writing) Chinese. Imagine if a white person is angered by a Chinese person demo’ing in English? People would go through the roof over that.

I want to ask you a serious question: should “white people” be angered when people who are not “white” present in English? Should I even have to ask this?

I don’t see how this blog post does anything but perpetuate race ignorance.

That being said, maybe this lady totally sucks at Chinese, and maybe she was a poor representation of how to use Chinese on an iPhone, but I guarantee, it wasn’t because of her skin color.
