Notes On Why I Hate Parse.com (From 2013)

I know a lot of people think parse.com is great but I am definitely not one of them.

The first problem that I came across was from some hearsay through other devs. Competent devs who just had extremely buggy apps because the parse backend wasn’t behaving predictably. In all fairness, it was an older version of parse.

Second, was with customer service. I recently worked on a project where somebody accidentally deleted some data. We put in a request to get some help, but the guys that work at parse were pretty vague about what they could do. If you accidentally delete some data, you’re basically fucked.

Full disclosure, I didn’t develop the app and I have never used parse before. I’m fully aware of what it does, even thought it was pretty cool at first. But, from this experience I don’t plan on ever using parse on any of my projects, not even a side project.

I wrote these notes in 2013 and just wanted to publish them for the record.
